1963 - Litchfield

The letter pictured right was sent to the local press by a Berkshire woman, and printed in the Newbury Weekly News on November 16, 1989. However it concerns a much earlier event - the appearance of a single crop circle thought to be close to Litchfield, back in 1963.

The report is tentative. The witness, Yvonne Adams, states that there was a crop circle in an area she had just travelled through. However it is not clear whether she saw it at the time, or later - since she mentions a subsequent photograph in the Newbury Weekly News shortly thereafter. (We have not seen this yet, but it may include another early crop circle photograph.)

We cannot conclude very much from this as things stand, except that it is one more instance of circles being recalled from years previously, once they started making headlines in the late 1980s.

Several more circles have appeared around Litchfield in the years since this report.
